Corrections and Retractions Policy

Al-Adalah: Jurnal Hukum dan Politik Islam is committed to preserving the integrity, accuracy, and completeness of the scholarly record. Changes to published articles will be made when necessary and in accordance with recognized publication ethics principles and relevant guidance from the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

1. Corrections

A correction may be issued when an error or omission is identified in a published article and the error does not invalidate the overall findings, arguments, or conclusions of the work. Examples include errors in the text, references, tables, figures, author information, affiliations, or other publication details.

The journal will assess the nature and significance of the error before deciding whether a correction is necessary. When a correction is issued, a notice describing the correction will be published and linked to the original article. The original article will remain accessible, and the correction notice will be freely available to readers.

2. Retractions

A retraction may be issued when a published article is found to contain serious errors or ethical violations that substantially undermine the reliability, validity, or integrity of its findings, arguments, or scholarly contribution. Grounds for retraction may include, but are not limited to:

  • Research misconduct, including fabrication, falsification, or plagiarism;
  • Duplicate or redundant publication;
  • Serious errors that invalidate the article's findings or conclusions;
  • Unethical research practices or significant breaches of publication ethics;
  • Deliberate misrepresentation or fabrication of legal sources, judicial decisions, statutory provisions, constitutional principles, Islamic legal texts, scholarly interpretations, or other authoritative materials.

Retraction may be requested by the author(s) or initiated by the journal when warranted. The journal will assess the available evidence, provide the relevant author(s) with a reasonable opportunity to respond, and make a decision based on the seriousness of the matter and applicable publication ethics principles.

When an article is retracted, the original publication will normally remain accessible to preserve the scholarly record, with a clear retraction notice linked to it. The notice will explain the reason for retraction and, where appropriate, identify who initiated the retraction.

In exceptional circumstances, such as legal requirements or serious ethical and privacy concerns, content may need to be removed or redacted. Where this occurs, the journal will seek to retain the article's bibliographic information and provide an appropriate explanation, insofar as legally permissible.

3. Publisher's Note

A Publisher's Note may be issued when production, editorial, or technical errors introduced during the publication process affect an article's metadata, publication information, or readability. Examples include errors in the article title, author names, affiliations, publication dates, or other publication-related details.

Where appropriate, the journal will correct the affected information and clearly indicate the nature of the change. If a revised version of the article is necessary, the journal will document the correction and link the relevant notice to the article. Publisher's Notes will be freely accessible to readers.

4. Commitment to Scholarly Integrity

Al-Adalah: Jurnal Hukum dan Politik Islam recognizes the shared responsibility of authors, editors, reviewers, publishers, and academic institutions to maintain the quality and reliability of scholarly communication.

Through appropriate corrections, retractions, and other post-publication notices, the journal seeks to uphold transparency, accountability, and the integrity of scholarship in law and Islamic politics.

The journal will consider relevant recommendations and best practices issued by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) when handling post-publication concerns.

Scholarly Record: Corrections, retractions, and other post-publication notices are intended to ensure that the published scholarly record remains as accurate, transparent, and reliable as reasonably possible.
