Focus and Scope
Jurnal Al-Adalah: Jurnal Hukum dan Politik Islam is an international, peer-reviewed journal dedicated to publishing high-quality scholarship on contemporary developments in Indonesian law from the perspectives of constitutional governance, public policy, Islamic law, and comparative legal studies. The journal seeks to bridge Indonesian legal scholarship with global academic debates by publishing rigorous doctrinal, empirical, socio-legal, and comparative research that advances legal theory, policy, and practice.
Jurnal Al-Adalah: Jurnal Hukum dan Politik Islam welcomes original contributions that examine legal transformation, constitutionalism, governance, justice, human rights, sustainable development, and the relationships between the state, society, and religion. The journal particularly encourages research that situates Indonesian legal developments within broader regional, comparative, and international contexts, thereby contributing to a deeper understanding of the evolving role of law in addressing contemporary societal challenges.
Peer Review ProcessAll manuscripts submitted to Al-Adalah: Jurnal Hukum dan Politik Islam must comply with the journal's Author Guidelines and publication policies. Each submission undergoes an initial editorial screening to assess its suitability with the journal's aims and scope, originality, academic quality, ethical standards, and compliance with the journal's formatting requirements. Manuscripts that do not meet these criteria may be declined without external review.
Manuscripts that successfully pass the initial screening are subject to a double-blind peer-review process conducted by at least two independent reviewers with expertise relevant to the manuscript. Reviewers evaluate submissions based on their originality, scholarly contribution, methodological rigor, relevance to the journal's scope, quality of analysis, and clarity of presentation
Based on the reviewers' recommendations, the Editor-in-Chief, in consultation with the Editorial Board, makes the final editorial decision. Authors will receive one of the following decisions:
- Accepted
- Accepted with Minor Revisions
- Major Revisions Required
- Rejected
Authors requested to revise their manuscripts must submit a revised version together with a detailed response to the reviewers' comments. Revised manuscripts may be returned to the original reviewers for further evaluation when necessary before a final editorial decision is made.
Plagiarism Screening
All submitted manuscripts are screened for textual similarity using Turnitin before entering the peer-review process. The similarity report is evaluated by the Editorial Board in accordance with the journal's publication ethics policy. A high similarity index does not automatically indicate plagiarism, and a low similarity index does not necessarily guarantee originality. Editorial decisions are based on a qualitative assessment of the similarity report, taking into account the nature, source, and extent of any matched text. Manuscripts found to contain plagiarism, redundant publication, or other forms of academic misconduct will be rejected in accordance with the journal's publication ethics.

Open Access Policy
Al-Adalah: Jurnal Hukum dan Politik Islam is a fully open-access journal. All articles are made freely and permanently available online immediately upon publication without subscription or access charges.
The journal is committed to the principle that unrestricted access to scholarly research promotes the global exchange of knowledge, enhances the visibility and impact of published works, and supports the advancement of legal scholarship. Readers are free to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, and link to the full texts of published articles in accordance with the journal's licensing policy.

Al-Adalah: Jurnal Hukum dan Politik Islam is an international, peer-reviewed journal published by the Constitutional Law Study Program, Faculty of Sharia and Islamic Law, State Islamic Institute (IAIN) Bone, Indonesia. The journal is committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics, academic integrity, and transparency throughout the editorial and publication process.
This Publication Ethics Statement outlines the ethical responsibilities of all parties involved in scholarly publishing, including authors, reviewers, editors, the Editor-in-Chief, the Editorial Board, and the publisher. It serves to ensure the integrity, credibility, and quality of the scholarly record while preventing plagiarism, data fabrication, data falsification, duplicate publication, and other forms of academic misconduct.
The journal's editorial policies and ethical standards are developed in accordance with the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Scholarly Publishing and other internationally recognized standards of responsible research and publication ethics.

The publication of scholarly articles in Al-Adalah: Jurnal Hukum dan Politik Islam contributes to the advancement of legal scholarship and the dissemination of reliable academic knowledge. To maintain the integrity, credibility, and quality of the scholarly record, all parties involved in the publication process—including authors, reviewers, editors, the Editor-in-Chief, the Editorial Board, and the publisher—are expected to uphold the highest standards of publication ethics and academic integrity.
Al-Adalah: Jurnal Hukum dan Politik Islam, published by the Constitutional Law Study Program, Faculty of Sharia and Islamic Law, State Islamic Institute (IAIN) Bone, Indonesia, is committed to ensuring that all editorial decisions are made independently, fairly, transparently, and solely on the basis of scholarly merit. Editorial decisions are not influenced by commercial interests, advertising, sponsorship, or other financial considerations.
The journal adheres to the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) Principles of Transparency and Best Practice in Scholarly Publishing and is committed to preventing plagiarism, data fabrication, data falsification, duplicate publication, citation manipulation, and other forms of academic misconduct. Where appropriate, the Editorial Board will cooperate with authors, reviewers, publishers, and other journals to investigate and resolve ethical issues in accordance with internationally accepted publication ethics.
Responsibilities of Editors
Publication Decisions
The Editor-in-Chief, in consultation with the Editorial Board, is responsible for making the final decision on the acceptance or rejection of submitted manuscripts. Editorial decisions are based on the manuscript's scholarly merit, originality, methodological quality, relevance to the journal's aims and scope, and the recommendations of independent peer reviewers. All editorial decisions are made in accordance with the journal's publication policies and applicable legal and ethical standards, including those relating to copyright, plagiarism, defamation, and research integrity.
Fairness and Impartiality
Editors evaluate all submitted manuscripts solely on the basis of their academic quality and intellectual merit. Editorial decisions are made without discrimination based on the authors' race, ethnicity, nationality, gender, religious belief, institutional affiliation, political views, or other personal characteristics.
Confidentiality
Editors and members of the editorial team maintain the confidentiality of all submitted manuscripts throughout the editorial process. Information relating to a manuscript will only be disclosed to the corresponding author, reviewers, prospective reviewers, editorial advisers, or the publisher where necessary to facilitate the review and publication process or where required by applicable ethical or legal obligations.
Conflicts of InterestEditors must not use unpublished information or ideas disclosed in submitted manuscripts for their own research or personal advantage without the authors' explicit written consent. Editors are required to disclose any actual, potential, or perceived conflicts of interest and, where appropriate, recuse themselves from handling manuscripts in which such conflicts exist.
Responsibilities of Reviewers
Contribution to Editorial Decisions
Peer review is an essential component of the editorial process. Reviewers assist the Editor-in-Chief and the Editorial Board in making informed editorial decisions while providing constructive, objective, and scholarly feedback to help authors improve the quality, clarity, and scientific contribution of their manuscripts.
Timeliness
Reviewers who consider themselves unqualified to evaluate a manuscript, or who are unable to complete the review within the requested timeframe, should promptly notify the editor and decline the review invitation so that an alternative reviewer can be appointed.
Confidentiality
Manuscripts received for review are confidential documents. Reviewers must not disclose, distribute, discuss, or use any part of the manuscript for personal or professional purposes without prior authorization from the Editor-in-Chief.
Objectivity
Reviews should be conducted objectively, fairly, and professionally. Reviewers should provide clear, evidence-based, and constructive comments that assist both the editors in making editorial decisions and the authors in improving their work. Personal criticism of the authors is inappropriate.
Acknowledgement of Sources
Reviewers should identify relevant published works that have not been appropriately cited by the authors and should inform the editor of any significant similarity or overlap between the submitted manuscript and other published or submitted works known to them. Reviewers are encouraged to provide complete and accurate references whenever possible.
Conflicts of Interest
Reviewers must decline invitations to review manuscripts where any actual, potential, or perceived conflict of interest exists, including conflicts arising from personal relationships, institutional affiliations, research collaborations, financial interests, or academic competition. Information obtained through the peer-review process must remain confidential and must not be used for personal, professional, or financial advantage.
Responsibilities of Authors
Reporting Standards
Authors are responsible for presenting an accurate, honest, and transparent account of their research. Manuscripts should contain sufficient detail, appropriate methodology, and relevant references to enable readers to understand, evaluate, and, where appropriate, replicate the study. Fabrication, falsification, or the intentional misrepresentation of research findings constitutes unethical conduct and is unacceptable.
Data Availability and Retention
Authors should retain the research data supporting their published findings for a reasonable period after publication and make such data available to the editors when requested, provided that this does not violate ethical, legal, or confidentiality obligations. Where appropriate, authors are encouraged to facilitate access to research data in accordance with applicable disciplinary standards.
Originality and Plagiarism
Authors must ensure that submitted manuscripts are original and have not been plagiarized in whole or in part. Any ideas, data, figures, or words taken from other sources must be properly cited or quoted in accordance with accepted academic standards.
Multiple, Redundant or Concurrent Submission
Manuscripts submitted to Al-Adalah: Jurnal Hukum dan Politik Islam must not be under consideration by another journal or publisher at the same time. Authors must not submit substantially similar work that has already been published or is being reviewed elsewhere, except where transparent republication is ethically justified.
Acknowledgement of Sources
Authors are responsible for acknowledging all sources that have significantly influenced the research and for ensuring that all references are accurate, complete, and appropriately cited.
Authorship
Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made substantial scholarly contributions to the conception or design of the research, data collection, analysis or interpretation, or the drafting and critical revision of the manuscript. All authors must approve the final version of the manuscript and agree to its submission. Individuals who contributed to the research but do not meet the criteria for authorship should be appropriately acknowledged
Conflicts of Interest and Funding Disclosure
Authors must disclose any financial, institutional, personal, or other relationships that could reasonably be perceived as influencing the research or its interpretation. All sources of research funding and any relevant financial support must be clearly acknowledged in the manuscript.
Corrections and Retractions
If authors discover a significant error or inaccuracy in their published work, they are obligated to notify the Editor-in-Chief promptly and cooperate with the journal in issuing a correction, retraction, or other appropriate editorial action to preserve the integrity of the scholarly record.

Plagiarism Screening Policy
Al-Adalah: Jurnal Hukum dan Politik Islam is committed to maintaining the highest standards of academic integrity and originality. All submitted manuscripts are screened for textual similarity using Turnitin before entering the peer-review process.
As a general editorial policy, manuscripts are expected to have a similarity index below 25%. However, the Editorial Board evaluates each similarity report qualitatively, taking into account the nature, source, and context of the matched text. A high similarity index does not automatically constitute plagiarism, and a low similarity index does not necessarily guarantee originality.
The journal does not tolerate any form of plagiarism or other unethical publication practices. Manuscripts found to contain plagiarism, self-plagiarism, duplicate publication, inappropriate citation practices, or other forms of academic misconduct may be rejected at any stage of the editorial process.
Examples of plagiarism include, but are not limited to:
- Direct plagiarism: Copying text, figures, tables, or other intellectual content from another source without appropriate quotation, permission, or attribution.
- Substantial plagiarism: Reproducing a significant portion of another person's work, ideas, analysis, or research findings without proper acknowledgment.
- Improper paraphrasing: Rewriting another author's ideas or expressions without sufficient originality or without appropriate citation, thereby creating the misleading impression that they are the author's own work.
- Self-plagiarism: Reusing substantial parts of one's previously published work without proper citation, disclosure, or editorial approval.
The journal follows the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) principles in handling suspected cases of plagiarism and other forms of publication misconduct. Where necessary, the Editorial Board may request clarification from the authors, require manuscript revision, reject the submission, or take other appropriate editorial actions in accordance with the journal's publication ethics policy.
