Abstract

This study aims to explore the value of alempureng (honesty)
contained in Lontara Latoa Tana Bone and its relevance in the
context of Islamic education. This research uses a qualitative
approach with descriptive analysis to identify and understand how
the value of honesty is internalized in Bugis character education. The
findings show that Lontara Latoa functions not only as a cultural
text, but also as a source of educational values that teach the
importance of honesty in social interaction and national life. The
value of alempureng in it acts as a moral foundation that supports
the formation of good character, in line with the teachings of the
Qur'an and Hadith. This research recommends the integration of
values of honesty into the educational curriculum in order to develop
individuals with integrity and high morals. Thus, this research
contributes to the development of local and religious values-based
character education, as well as strengthening the understanding of
the importance of honesty in the context of Islamic education.
